Swiss Art Gate UAE in co-operation with Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi, and under the auspices of the Embassy of Italy to the UAE, is going to show “Metamorphosis” by Italian artist, Daniela Carletti in Emirates Palace’s Mezzaluna restaurant. The launch of the exhibition will be on Tuesday, 10 September 2013, 5.30 – 7.30 pm in Mezzaluna. The exhibition runs until 7 January 2014 and is open to the public daily from 12.30 – 7 pm. Exhibition viewing by appointment only. On display are sixteen artworks (acrylic and mixed media on Japan paper) of the Italian artist, Daniela Carletti, who participated at the 54th Venice Bienniale.
Daniela Carletti was born in Ferrara, a city that she loves so much, perhaps because she shares some aspects of its soul: introverted, slow, exudes an air of magic, and sometimes disturbing. Daniela created a technique and she went through a process to put together all the material on canvas and to create fabulous artworks.
In 2008, after the attendance of various courses in graphics at the Court of Mine, near Urbino, Daniela was experimented enough to use Japan paper. Since 2009 she started to insert figures of herons in both works on paper and that of relief. In 2010 there was a turning point in her work, and among the grasses and reeds appeared curious anthropomorphic animals on the canvas.
In 2011, after many solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, Daniela has got the chance to display her work in the 54th Venice Biennale.
Her journey, in search of harmony with the representation of beauty in nature, continues.
“I think I have nostalgia for a time when human beings lived in direct communication with nature. I can’t explain in any other way my compulsive need to represent it.”
