Swiss Art Gate UAE in co-operation with Ajyad DIFC Dubai. A solo exhibition by Emirati artist, Khawla Al Falasi titled Flying high – The Source of Pride. The event features 13 photo-realistic falcon paintings in celebration of the UAE’s magnificent national bird of prey. The exhibition runs from April 23 until May 20, 2015, 7-9 pm, at Ajyad DIFC, Dubai.
The month-long gallery show sees Khawla Al Falasi showcasing her best of collection from the last two years, the first time she has displayed her work from this period. The exhibition comprises medium size oil on canvas paintings which reveal the majesty of the falcon with incredible precision.
Capturing the mesmerising birds in all their feathered glory, artist Khawla Al Falasi has created an idiom that harks back to the photo-realistic techniques that were popular at the turn of the century, with her impressive artwork incorporating lighting styles that were in use by Renaissance period artists. Her paintings are meticulous in presenting the juxtaposition of the birds, languid mood while perched, with the constant, intelligent movement of their heads as they assess their surroundings with thoughtful observation.
