Zahra Goulamhoussen from India, living in Dubai, explains her intricate work as follows: “UAE’s 46th Year is represented across this ornate piece. From the 46th page out of the UAE’s history book, to the way the clock hands are positioned to subtly read 46. The clock itself represents the architectural evolution of the UAE over 46 years, the results of which can be seen in the outer circumference through the dot-work skyline silhouettes of landmarks across the UAE. The Arabian horses illustrate the royal heritage and nobility of the UAE and are an acknowledgement of their beloved role in the local culture and history. The falcon wings, while representing the national bird, depict the soaring heights that the UAE has reached in 46 years.”
Ten percent of all sales will be contributed to the “Wanna Read?” initiative (led by HH Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan) that provides hospitalized children a stimulating and enriching environment by offering an abundance of books.
