Tracking the Emirates - the art exhibition in RAK Hospital Ras Al Khaimah - displays more than 60 artworks of 16 local and resident artists of the United Arab Emirates. The exhibition will run until September 30, 2010.
The artworks can be donated to RAK Hospital. It will then be displayed permanently in the hospital, and can be enjoyed by patients and visitors. For more details please contact:

| Tracking the Emirates | Contemporary Art Exhibition | RAK Hospital |
|
|
RAK Hospital is hosting a unique contemporary art exhibition with 16 local and UAE based artists on the theme Tracking the Emirates from April 7 to September 30, 2010 in Ras Al Khaimah. The exhibition will take place under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qassimi and H.E. Gerhard Bruegger, Consul General of Switzerland.
Tracking the Emirates is about people, who through art depict their roots or experiences in relation to the past, the present or of future life in the UAE. The artworks on display will be painting, mixed media, sculpture, installation, photography, 360% digital print, calligraphy and mosaic. Participating artists are:
Naasim Ahmed Al Majed, Mohamed Abdalla, Mohamed Al Astad, Salama Al Mansouri, Katy Chang, Martina Dresler, Khalifa El Shimy, Ayyub Russell Hamilton, Tim Kennedy, Andre C. Meyerhans, Mark Pilkington, Khalfan Abdul Rauf, Ms Rebecca Rendell, Naz Shahrokh, Linda Stephanian, Sandra Woest, Zahidah Daniel Zeytoun Millie.
Swiss Art Gate UAE organized an initial competition, to which 28 artists applied. A panel, made up by professionals, selected 16 artists. The selected artists artworks allow us to catch a glimpse of their roots and experiences through their eyes. Every artwork was especially created for this exhibition.
As the RAK Hospital is both spatial and public, it is the ideal setting for this type of exhibition. By sponsoring and hosting this exhibition, the hospital is able to showcase and promote its top-notch health facilities, while strengthening the local and regional art scene at the same time.
Tracking the Emirates not only highlights the quality of local artworks but also strengthens the profile of contemporary art in the UAE, in addition to bringing local artists closer to their own roots and heritage.
The exhibition is to be inaugurated April 7, 2010 - International World Health Day, and will run for four months. A catalogue presenting all artists and artworks will be available.
